Kenneth House

Kenneth House is a CQC registered care home located in the heart of Gloucester Road’s friendly community, the independent shops, cafes and pubs are on our doorstep. There is also easy access to Horfield Leisure Centre, a variety of places of worship and the centre of town with its cinemas, restaurants and shopping.

Kenneth House has a great atmosphere offering support for up to eight people with learning disabilities in a beautiful period building with many original features. We have a recently refurbished garden with new paved and sheltered area which is great for barbecues and a planting area which is used for growing fruit and vegetables during the summer months.

We know our residents incredibly well and it is this intimate knowledge that enables us to develop our support to meet their needs. We have a friendly, qualified and diverse staff team with a variety of skill sets. Examples of this include communication (all staff are expected to take a foundation course in Signalong), epilepsy, autism, mental health and challenging behaviour. We can also access further training according to resident needs. Residents are encouraged to be as independent as possible whilst being given all the support they need to reach the goals they set at the beginning of each year.

Residents can expect lots of choice from a tailor made package of services and activities including cooking, gardening, football, cycling and singing. If we aren’t doing what interests you at the moment, staff will do all they can to arrange it.

Residents enjoy regular day trips to concerts, discos, pubs, the cinema and local events. We hold a regular Coffee Morning in the local church hall which is a great opportunity to meet new people and serve great coffee. We also arrange short breaks and holidays for residents to destinations such as France and Devon.

Don’t take our word for it. Here are some comments by the people who live here:

“The staff are great. It’s like a home from home.”

“I get opportunities and all the support I need to get to Ashton Gate, the Bristol City ground in South Bristol.”

“Staff support me to achieve great things!”

“I’m independent!”
